Dinagyang Spirit Takes Over Mercato Sta. Barbara

Sta. Barbara Heights came alive as “Viva Mercato Sta. Barbara” took over from January 24-26, 2025. Held in perfect sync with the Dinagyang Festival, this three-day extravaganza brought together electrifying performances, vibrant art, and must-try local flavors—painting Iloilo’s spirit in bold, vivid hues.

Setting the Stage for Celebration

The festival roared to life with Tribu Molave’s Pamukaw, where the rhythmic crash of drums and synchronized Dinagyang dances set the tone for the celebration. Meanwhile, Art Avenue became a hub of creativity, as festival-goers of all ages explored face-painting, tattooing, and interactive art—turning the space into a living canvas.

By afternoon, the spotlight shifted to “Dinagyang Investors’ Day,” offering guests a glimpse into the future of Sta. Barbara Heights. Investors and visitors explored the township’s potential, envisioning a dynamic, flourishing community.

As night fell, Rewind Acoustic mellowed the energy with soulful busking sessions. Music mingled with the aroma of local delicacies and the warmth of handmade crafts, closing the day on a note of quiet enchantment.

A Canvas of Culture and Creativity

The second day honored the artistry of Santa Barbara with “Pinta sa Mercato Sta. Barbara,” an acrylic painting contest hosted by Pintura Catmon, the Santa Barbara Local Government Unit (LGU), and the Santa Barbara Investment Marketing Promotion Unit (IMPU). With the theme “Timpla sang Kultura, Lasa sang Lokal,” artists captured the region’s rich traditions and culinary identity on canvas.

As evening approached, the Prakatak Drumbeaters took the stage, their rhythmic beats charging the atmosphere with energy. Julius Sarria III followed with acoustic melodies, easing the crowd into a smooth, soulful finish.

A Finale Worth Savoring

The final day carried the festival’s momentum, filling the air with the aroma of local cuisine, the hum of eager shoppers, and the thrill of last-minute finds. Every stall, performance, and conversation added to the energy, closing the weekend on a high note—vibrant, lively, and unmistakably Sta. Barbara Heights.
